Columba’s Day Gathering

On the move.

Saturday June 8th 2019
2pm – 7.30pm

A day to sing and pray, to create and share, to meet and experience something of the Iona Community… here, there and everywhere. The day coincides with an art residency at the Church, so there’ll be things to look at and a creative workshop in which to engage. The day will also include the opportunity to make or renew commitment to the Rule of the Iona Community.

The main act of worship will include an opportunity for Associate Members to recommit themselves to the Rule of the Iona Community.

The event is free and open to all.

Please bring some food to share for supper.

What the day will entail:

From 2pm there’ll be teas/coffees, time for conversation, information stalls, and an exhibition of artwork by resident artist Mark Cripps, who’ll be with us for the afternoon.

At 2.30pm there will be a Wee Sing, for us to learn some songs and make music together.

At 3pm we’ll have a service of worship to mark Columba’s day (on the Sunday). This will include the opportunity for those present to commit, or renew such recommitment, to the Rule of the Iona Community.

This will be followed by the opportunity to engage in a creative workshop led by Mark, with the possibility of a choice of another workshop.

No later than 5pm, we’ll break for tea and cake.

Before supper, there’ll be the opportunity to share news, including yours. This will include an update on all that is going on in the life of the Iona Community… refurbishment at the Abbey, the future of the MacLeod Centre, the Organisation and Movement, youth work and young adults… following the Community’s AGM in Glasgow the weekend before.

6pm Bring and Share Supper (drinks provided).

At 7pm we’ll gather for a Closing Liturgy, before…

7.30pm Departures.
