Columba’s Day Gathering

Inspired by the past we move into the future.

Saturday June 9th 2018
2pm – 7.30pm

Including worship, news sharing, food and plenty of time to meet Iona folk. This is an opportunity to invite friends along who’d like to know about the nature and work of the Iona Community.

The main act of worship will include an opportunity for Associate Members to recommit themselves to the Rule of the Iona Community.

The event is free and open to all.

Please bring some food to share for supper.

What the day will entail:

From 2pm there’ll be teas/coffees, time for conversation, information stalls, and a church full of sculpture.

At 3pm there will be a service of worship to the anniversary of St Columba’s death. This will include the opportunity for Associate Members, especially, to recommit themselves to the Rule of the Community.

Flowing out of the worship, there’ll be a series of brief presentations from Members of the Community about how they live out the Rule, and what being a Member of the Community means for them. We hope this will provoke questions and conversation.

No later than 4.30pm, we’ll break for tea and cake.

At 5pm, there’ll be the opportunity to share news, including yours. This will include an update on where we are up to with the Capital Appeal to refurbish the Abbey, following the Community’s AGM in Glasgow the weekend before.

6pm Bring and Share Supper (drinks provided).

At 7.15pm we’ll gather for a Closing Liturgy, before…

7.30pm Departures.
